- 2022 Spotlight
Personal Statement
Greetings-
I first played basketball as a Tiny Tot at a Mesquite recreational center, but it wasn’t until the sport was reintroduced to me in 5th grade that I realized no other sport compared. It has been my dream since I was eleven years old to play at the collegiate level. To reach my goals, I practice and play competitively twelve months of the year. I have an amazing skills coach and AAU coach who provide me with skills and game play instruction.
This hard work has paid off, and I am the starting point guard for my AAU team and high school varsity team. My high school coach brags that my ball handling skills prevent anyone from being able to guard me. She also says I am the most unselfish point guard she has coached in 22 years.
My freshmen, sophomore, and junior year I received Defensive Player of the District. My sophomore & Junior year I was voted: All Region and All State by the Texas Coaches Association, Texas Girl’s Coaches Association. Most recently in the annual Bob Stras Knights of Columbus Invitational, I was named to the All-Tournament Team. Texas State University Defensive player of Coach Z's Camp.
Through mental toughness and strong work ethic, I have led my team to the Regional Quarterfinals in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
I leave my high school practice and head straight to my skill coach’s gym to put up shots daily, or train other young athletes who see me as a role model. I am no stranger to hard work or competition, and I will prove to be one of the hardest working recruits you will find.
My education is extremely important to me, and I don’t run away from hard work in that area either. I maintain a 3.7 GPA while taking AP courses in preparation for a career in medicine.
I am excited to attend a university where academics and sports are emphasized. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right university match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers, in my community and make my parents proud.
Thank you for your consideration!
