Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Brianna Barton, and I am in the middle of my junior year at Windsor High School in Vermont, and I am excited to be entering my senior year soon at Windsor High School in Vermont.I am in the graduating class of 2025.
I currently play as a small forward, but also play as a shooting guard.
I started playing basketball in 1st grade. I fell in love with basketball, when I joined my first AAU team in the 4th grade. We won the 2017 VT State Championship, and we traveled to Pennsylvania to play for the AAU East Coast Championship.
It was my 5th grade year that I started to really enjoy the competitive part of basketball and that is when I decided that I wanted to continue to grow my basketball skills. My freshmen year of high school basketball my junior varsity team went undefeated and my varsity took it all the way and we won the D3 State Championship. My sophomore year as a varsity starter my team went to the D3 State Championship and won. As I have finished junior season we sadly lost in the D3 State Championship this year, but I am still very proud of this team and I have a feeling we will be back. My current goal is to prove that the Windsor High School Girls Basketball team are not a team to take lightly, with my higher goal to play basketball in college.
I started attending Dartmouth College winter basketball group trainings in 2015, and then started attending their summer Mini Pine Basketball camps. In 2018 my team and I were awarded the 3 v 3 Champions, 2019 I was awarded Hot Shot Champion. The past two summers I have been doing PGC camps and EXACT camps to help increase my knowledge of basketball.

Since the 4th grade my team and I have generally played the bracket above our current level. Over the years of playing harder competition we have gained more experience which is helping us to prepare for the next level of basketball. My next couple AAU seasons back after missing time on the courts due to COVID, I am seeing the results of my hard work in the gym during the off season. I have been able to keep up and push farther in tough competition with high school athletes. I am also seeing more minutes on the court.
One of my strengths that my coaches have told me in multiple sports, is that I have a great sense of what to do when faced with different challenges. Some characteristics I have learned about myself over the years of being an athlete is that I am a hard worker and can make quick changes, if needed. I always want to be perfect in everything I do, even if it is not sport related. When it comes down to the last seconds of the game, I do not think that I am the one to take care of everything. I always look to see if one of my teammates has a better shot or opportunity to score. I have always believed that team work is better than having one person take control of everything. Basketball has always been part of my life and it continues to be, as I finish my third year of high school. I’m hoping I will be able to play in college to keep the fire burning inside me alive. I have always thought of every team I’ve played for as family and I have been through some of my toughest times with my teammates. My hope is I will be able to be on a college team that is like another family and I will be able to grow and improve alongside them.
Other notable athletic achievements in the other sports, I enjoy:
2017 Elks Soccer Shoot Out 1st place
2017 Vermont Open Grappling 2nd place girls under 10
Obtained Jiu Jitsu yellow belt at the age of 9
