Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Katelyn Peters and I am a Senior (Class of 2019) at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington.

I have been playing basketball since I was in grade school. I love the game and I love being part of a team.

This is my third and last year at Lewis and Clark after moving from Sammamish where I attended Skyline High School. As a freshman at Skyline I was a starter on the JV team. As a Sophomore at Lewis and Clark I made the Varsity team and played a ton. As a junior my hard work paid off and I was a starter on and off throughout the season and was given the Most Inspirational Award along with Coaches Award. We were 2nd in our conference and 2nd in regional's. Unfortunately we were knocked out in the second round of the 4A state playoff's. All of our starters are returning and we have great chance to get back to State this year.

My academic goals for college are obtain an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing so I can become a Registered Nurse. At some point after College I would love to be part of Doctors/Nurses without Borders and be able to help people in need.

My current GPA is 4.0, cumulative GPA is 3.99 and my weighted cumulative GPA is 4.1. As a junior I'm taking AP English and Honors Algebra plus 4th year Honors Spanish. I have been on the Honor Roll all 3 years I have been in High School.

I am highly competitive and have played some type of team sport since I was 6 years old. I feel I am a well rounded athlete having played basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, ran track and swam competitively through my Sophomore year in high school.

I believe I would be a great fit on any team and could make a difference at any college I attend having faced adversity by moving high schools after my freshman year and excelling to become a starter as a junior along with keeping a 4.0 GPA.

Thank you and God Bless

Katelyn Peters
