Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Briana May. I am currently the starting point guard at Milwaukee Area Technical College. I have participated on the varsity level since my sophomore year in high school and continued my basketball career at MATC after taking a gap year during the pandemic. I currently average 10 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block per game.
I am a natural competitor who thrives in clutch situations and against tough competition. I want to impact any program I become a part of with that nack for competition and prove to myself, teammates, and supporters how deep those sentiments run and just how valuable they are. Some of my best attributes include my ability to get my teammates hyped up by making hustle plays and pushing the ball up the floor.
College athletics is the perfect setting for what I aim to accomplish. My aim is to face the challenges of being a full-time student-athlete who succeeds on the court and in life, and at the same time leaves a worthwhile legacy behind me. My legacy will be one of a determined competitor who did whatever was necessary to prepare themselves for success, first in a team setting and then on an individual level.
I am deeply passionate about basketball and my overall future. I continue to put in the work needed to excel in my given role and appreciate any help that is offered to me. I have been playing basketball for about 8 years now and the life lessons learned thus far have positively impacted my life, and what I still have yet to learn will only continue to make me better. Basketball has increased my mental toughness, confidence, and awakened my competitive spirit. When I’m not pushing myself on the basketball court I am deep into my studies as an aspiring paralegal and eventually a civil rights attorney.
My greatest desire is to continue my basketball career at the highest level and contribute to the next program that I have the honor of playing for.
