I have been playing basketball since I was at least 5. Ever since I started to grow into the sport and love it more, I’ve grown to know I want to play at the collegiate level. Playing in college is a big dream of mine and I know if I put in the work I can achieve it, it is an amazing opportunity and I know it could change my whole life for the better. I am very focused on the sport itself but also my academics. My academics mean so much to me and whatever school I end up attending, I know I will want a strong academic area that will allow me to succeed for my future.
I am very strong offensively, mostly driving to the hoop and working my way around the post. I could use some work on my shot and I will be continuing to work on that. I have strong defense, most of the time it really comes out when I get upset. Which leads me to my next point of my mental toughness, mentally I need to be stronger. I am very hard on myself for not only the game but also everyday life and school especially. I work with some of my coaches on my mental talk to myself and my body language, I am always trying to see what I need to do differently with my body language and improve it. This year I had to step up and lead my team due to our point guard going down with an injury. When I realized I had to take this role, I changed my mindset as to not focusing on fixing all of my stuff but helping our team grow together and become one. I work hard in practice and games, I try my best in everything I do and you can see me as a very hard worker in or out of the gym. This year my team got 1st in Conference, I received 1st Team All-Conference, MVP for my team, and 4th Team All-Area.
Last year I played AAU basketball and this year I am taking a break to work my job but next year I am thinking about going back to AAU because I already miss it, not just the game but the people within as well. I also play Varsity Volleyball at my school.
In the classroom I am a hard worker, I put so much effort into my grades and I am hard on myself for them so my parents usually don’t have to worry about me having bad grades. I study and do all my homework on time and maintain above a 3.6 GPA, currently having a 3.9 GPA. Last year I was on the high honor roll for my class. Outside of school I babysit and love spending time with family and friends.
I would like to attend a college that pushes me within the classroom and the court. I would prefer to stay around the Wisconsin area but am open to traveling. In the end I want to find the college that I feel will be the best fit for me. One that can push me to be my best in the classroom and on the court. I hope to accomplish my dreams of one day playing at the collegiate level and making my family proud.
