Brooklyn Hytrek '21 Recruiting Profile

I grew up with a basketball in my hands. I have always belonged to Friday night games, Saturday practices, vomit-inducing conditioning drills, and my teammates. I do not merely love the game of basketball, but also the person this sport has shaped me to be. I hope to continue this passion and affinity onto the collegiate level. 

My basketball game can best be described as fast-paced. As one of my biggest strengths is my speed, I am always fighting for steals and flicks that lead to fast break opportunities for me and my teammates. I possess a special ability to drive to the basket and finish even under contact but am still extremely comfortable with mid-range jump shots when the defense has adjusted to my drive. I still maintain a high basketball IQ and understand when to kick it out for a three or dump to the post player. Despite not being the tallest player on the court, I am versatile by the fact I can effectively post and finish when needed. I strive to be the person who always uplifts my teammates, and understand that a positive attitude is the first step towards performing well. I am eager to work as hard as I can every second I am on the court, and reflect this approach in practice as well. I will never shy away from obstacles or strenuous work and give every part of myself to the team I play on.

I take great pride in my academic work as well as my athletics. I have been in Honors classes since beginning high school and joined the esteemed International Baccalaureate Program as a junior. I have maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0 the entirety of my high school career, and have also earned a 4.86 weighted GPA. Outside of sports, I participate in Student Council, Fellowship of Cristian Athletes, and also belong to the National Honor Society.  

I want to attend a college that will push me to be a better athlete, teammate, and overall person. I wish to play at the highest level of competition I can and find an institution that will fit into my academic aspirations as well. I hope to continue my lifelong passion for the game of basketball, and fulfill my dream of becoming a college player next year!
