Maile Sweeney Div...
2019 HighlightsHello, my name is Maile Sweeney. I am 17 years old and a Senior at Fort Walton Beach HS. I am on the Varsity Dive team at FWBHS and I am on the Port City Diving Club team. I have only been diving since February of 2019. I train 3-4 days a week for an hour and a half. The closest diving well is an hour away. I have competed in 7 dive meets, 2 of which were Districts and Regionals. Districts was my first 11 dive meet and I placed 2nd with a 399.45 and broke my high school 11 dive record. At Regionals I placed 5th. I have 8 years of experience in competitive gymnastics. Gymnastics has given me a strong foundation for diving.
My education always comes before sports, but diving is a very close second. I have taken Honors and AP courses throughout high school. I am involved in Beta Club, Key Club, Science National Honor Society, Viking Ladies, Environmentally Conscious Youth Club, and Surf Club. The clubs have allowed me to be very active in my community. I have been a Viking Scholar in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. I am also a gymnastics coach at Emerald City Gymnastics two days a week, year round.
I am very passionate about diving and hope to have the opportunity to continue it in college. I intend to major in International Studies or in a science major. I want to attend a college that will push me to do my very best in the classroom and in the pool.
