Personal Statement
Before I began diving, I did gymnastics for about 9 years. I never imagined myself not being a gymnast, and certainly never pictured myself becoming invested in the sport of diving. Fortunately, the two sports go somewhat hand-in-hand, which has helped develop my diving career to where I am at this moment. Gymnastics had always been a huge part of my life, and I truly feel that it is what developed me into who I am today, and taught me what it means to be a part of a team. When I began diving, it was much easier for me to catch on and learn the skills I needed, because of my history as a gymnast; I was able to apply a lot of the same concepts from gymnastics to diving, which has helped me a lot to be successful. Since I began freshman year, I have accomplished quite a few goals for this sport, which have inspired my desire to continue it in college as well. I was lucky enough to be able to make it to states all my years of high school so far, winning 1st at the Conference meet in 2018 and 2019, and placing 3rd at the state meet in 2019 as well.
I have set a ton of goals throughout my life, academics being part of that as well as athletics. It has always been my goal to maintain a 4.0 GPA or higher throughout high school and then continue to strive for that in college. Being a student athlete has taught me a lot about commitment, dedication, and teamwork, and I am thankful for that. Ever since I was a part of gymnastics, I have never not been involved in a sport, so I know what it takes to be a student athlete and manage my time throughout any obstacles that come my way. Some parts of my journey have been harder than others, but I am proud to be where I am today and have the potential to pursue my goals and dreams in college.
