Eva Mikla '21 Recruiting Profile

I began diving the summer before my freshman year of high school – and was instantly hooked! Having a background in gymnastics, I was confident in my abilities to twist, tuck, and pike with ease, while focused on learning the in-and-outs of diving. I have been a gymnast since the age of nine, having competed as part of a team while also pushing myself to meet my individual goals.

During my freshman year on the River Falls High School Swim and Dive team, I forged ahead in my skills, pushed myself to learn as many dives as possible, and consistently performed well during meets and competitions. I placed 1^st in the 2017 Big Rivers Conference and placed 9^th at WIAA Swim and Dive State Competition in Madison, WI. As a sophomore, I completed my second year on the RFHS Swim and Dive team with a personal best score of 404.45 and earning a 5th place State rank to head to WIAA State Competition for a second time. I met my personal goal of making the podium at State with a 6^th place finish! As a Junior, I scored my personal best score of 412.9 at the 2019 Sectional meet ensuring my 3rd trip to the WIAA State Competition where I finished in 9th place overall.

I am an enthusiastic yet level-headed athlete. I am dependable, hard-working, exceedingly coachable, and resilient. My coaches acknowledged my skills by awarding me the Most Valuable Diver Award (2017) and elected me Co-Caption for the upcoming 2019 diving season. Additionally, I am currently the Co-Caption of the RFHS Gymnastics team, as voted upon by my fellow teammates. I am a strong student with an excellent work ethic. I enjoy being active both indoors and out, volunteering for Special Olympics, coaching gymnastics, and watching movies in my free time (especially crime/mysteries!)

I am looking for a university that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. While only a junior, I am ‘diving’ into my goals for college and beyond – and exploring my options for my professional degree, academic focus, and athletic interests. I know that I have the talent and work ethic to make an impact within your program. I have the skills and personality to be a great competitor, I will maintain a positive attitude, and I will strongly contribute to a collegiate team.
