Personal Statement

Hi I'm Peyton Johnson,

I love the game of golf and I am a team player.  My dream is to play college golf at a school where I can also get my degree in either sports medicine or the sciences. I am an only child, and enjoy spending time on the course, focusing on honing my skills. I am a dedicated student and know that I want to do something important with my life.

I first held a club when I was 9 months old.  When I was 4 years old I started taking lessons from a former FSU women's golfer who was a great and patient instructor. I then started playing tournament golf when I was 9 years old on the Pink Links Junior Golf Tour.  This year, I started playing with the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and Florida Junior Tour. When I was in 6th grade I was a member of the Florida High School Girls Varsity team -- and quickly became the No. I player.  I am in my 3rd year of varsity golf at my school.

In addition to loving the game of golf, I am an outstanding student and have already completed 4 high school courses in my 8th grade year, two of which are Honors Classes. I respect the game of golf on and off the course and know that I am competing against myself and the course.  I love competition, and enjoy playing with other golfers. Respecting everyone on the course is so important. As a varsity golfer, we have won FHSAA Districts twice, and have qualified and played in FHSAA Regionals twice -- coming in 4th both times a few strokes shy of qualifying for FHSAA State.  In 2021 I was recognized by All Big Bend 2nd team, in 2022 and 2023 I was recognized as All Big Bend 1st team and was noted as one of the top 3 female golfers in the Big Bend Region.  I just completed my MS Softball season and I will be transitioning to the JV Softball team in  the 2023-2024 season.

My dad and I also play a lot of golf on our home course  - Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, FL. and I have started volunteering as a junior coach for The First Tee--Tallahassee.  As part of NJHS I have to acrue community service hours, and most of those hours are from helping on the course.
