Personal Statement

I have only been golfing for about a 2 years, but I believe I have had several accomplishments to be proud of.  During my first year of golf I was able to reduce my score by an average of 25 strokes bringing my average to 90 for 18 holes.  I made the High School Varsity Golf team and became a starter after the 2nd match of the season. I was part of the team that placed 2nd in the areas (first in our county and 7th individually). Because of our teams’ results we qualified for the State tournament and during that event our team placed 4th. At the start of my second high-school season, I was able to reduce my score from he previous 90 to an improved 85. In addition to my golf accomplishments, I play Varsity softball and participated in that State tournament as well. However, none of the above would have been accomplished if it weren't for academics. For me, school comes before sports, so having good grades is something I strive for. I plan to complete my high-school career with a 4.0 GPA and to be in the top 10% of my class. I plan to carry my academic commitments on to the college level. While I am not certain of my desired major, I am leaning toward either Criminal Justice or Business Management with a primary focus on Golf Course Management.  I am still assessing my ideal college in size and location. My athletic goals are to continue my path of being a dual Varsity Athlete with a primary focus on golf. My goal is to make it to state each year, improving my placement and I have joined Georgia Junior Golf to gain more tournament experience. By the end of 2019, I plan to further improve my average with a goal of a high-70´s average. So far, playing golf has taught me a lot about myself. I have learned I am a perfectionist which means I am fiercely dedicated to being the best golfer I can be. It has taught me that I have a creative mind and eye through the different shots and improvements I decide to take. But most of all,  playing golf has shown me that I am a true competitor at heart and that I will practice as much as possible,  accept the advice of my coaches,  try new things,  and do whatever it takes to make myself into the best golfer I can possibly be.  All in all, I am certain I will be able to make a positive contribution to your collegiate program. I can commit to be a quick learner, consistent improver, and competitive team-player.
