My name is Bri Arzbaecher and I’m a senior at Prospect High School, in Mount Prospect Illinois. Prospect has a very strong girls golf program, and I have had the privilege of playing for the Knights for the last 4 years. Most recently in 2020, Prospect won IHSA 2A Regionals and placed 5th in Sectionals. During my Senior year I was consistently the 1a or 1b girl on the team with the lowest average, and I finished the season by qualifying for Illinois State Playoffs with an 8th place finish at IHSA 2A Sectionals. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions there are no state playoffs in Illinois so my High School career ended at Sectionals.
I was a two-sport athlete in basketball and golf for middle school through Sophomore year. I eventually gave up basketball and followed my passion for golf. During my Junior and Senior years, I spent a lot of time practicing and working with a couple of swing coaches (Ryan Crawley and Eric Pick). I also had the opportunity to play some tough Championship Courses in Illinois, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Florida with my Dad, Uncles, and younger brother. Playing courses like Whistling Straights, Conway Farms, Olde Florida, and Pronghorn really sharpened my skills, and challenged my game. All in all, the hard work paid off and I was able to knock 10-12 strokes off my handicap, and I elevated myself to the top slot on the team. I finished the 2020 season with a 10.5 handicap index
Golf is one of those sports and I hope to play for a lifetime, and feel my best golf is still in front of me.
