Sofia Ymbern Quiñoa '17 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing golf since I was very young and learn to swing a club as a toddler. My Father plays very well and it was his dream that his children would play competitively.  
 
People are always pleasantly surprised when they watch me tee off. Although I am small, I drive the ball very hard and can get the same distance as someone twice my size. My short game is also very good and I can approach and putt very well. I am a well-adjusted athlete and a good team player. I train intensively all year round; play championships on the weekends and during school breaks.  I have travelled to different countries with my International School and have always found it easy to adapt to different cultures.
 
My goal has always been to attend the best school I can and play collegiate level golf. I do not want to become a professional golfer but to be the best Engineer or Businessperson that I can be. I have always been an outstanding student and my grades are excellent.  Although I go to school until 5 pm, I am able to train four or five times a week and to study and prepare assignments for the 11 classes that we have in Spain. My English skills are very good since I attended an International School from pre-school until this year.
 
In summary, I want to play collegiate golf at a competitive level but keeping in mind that academics and a good college fit are very important to me.
