Golf isn't just a game for me, it's been such a big part of my life for so long that it feels habitual- like Church on Sunday or school on Monday. My parents started taking me out on one of the local courses when I was around four, I only hit a few balls a round back then, but something about the game was positively infectious. So, when I was old enough (around fourth grade) I started playing with the Jr PGA league in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After I outgrew that, I started playing KJGA (Kalamazoo Junior Golf Association) tournaments the summer before sixth grade and I haven't stopped playing them since. I've played some Meijer Callaways, and I've played a lot of high school golf, but what you really should know are my goals moving forward. I have a tendency to dream big, I always have- and the thing about big dreams is that they tend to be good motivation. In this case, my dream is to play golf at a college that fits my academic dreams (medical school!) as well as my athletic ones (playing as much golf as humanly possible).
I know that I've talked a lot about golf (and briefly academics), but another incredibly big part of my life is Jeter's Leaders (the Turn 2 Foundation). Through this program I've had the opportunity to travel the country, meet and learn about successful people (and what makes them successful), and mentor youth in my community. It's helped me grow as a leader and as a person, and it's helped me to decide what I really want out of life. The people that speak at our conferences constantly talk about having a community or a team, even into adulthood and that made me realize what I want out of my college experience. I want to be surrounded by like minded people working together to achieve a goal, or having a team that will hype me up on good days or on bad. The converse of that, is that I want to be a valuable member of every team I'm on and encourage my teammates.
With all of that being said, I hope that you will consider me for your team!
