Stephanie Yang '21 Recruiting Profile

I have always been an independent person when it comes to working, but I also enjoy a team to work together in order to accomplish more than I can when doing something alone. Being on the Women's Golf team allows me to do such a thing. I am able to work and improve my own individual score and also work together as a team to score well and place in tournaments. I enjoy the sport because it has not only taught me proper etiquette but also to regulate and monitor my emotions.  I have always wanted to experience the joys of being in a bigger tournament. I have always struggled with anxiety and nerve-racking moments, but those moments are what make me stronger and it builds a stronger mentality for me. What makes me a good candidate for the women's golf team is that I am well prepared and open-minded.  I have played in a lot of tournaments and have scored well in those tournaments. I believe most recruits have the same mentality as me: they will not let failure stop them from success, however, what makes me different from other recruits is that I can take the criticism. I have had swing flaws in the past and worked with family members to improve my swing and when I do something wrong, I'm not afraid of someone telling me that I'm wrong. I learn from those mistakes and push myself to overcome those failures and achieve my goals.
