My name is Hanna Mitchell. I have been playing golf since I was in eighth grade. I got into the sport because of my grandfather and my brothers. In seventh grade, even though I hadn't picked up a club often, they convinced me to try out. I didn't make the team, but I didn't let that stop me. I decided that I wanted to improve and work hard over the next summer so that when I tried out the next year, I would make the team. I worked every day with my brothers and my golf coach to improve my skills. Not only did I make the team, but I was also competing in tournaments. I continued to work hard on my game and was determined to play the best golf possible. In my senior season I placed 7th at my State qualifier shooting an 84 and an 80. I also placed second at our Suburban Council Tournament shooting a 39. My average from the season was a 41. I am different from other athletes because I always put my best effort into everything I do. I study hard and challenge myself with accelerated and honors classes. I understand the importance of integrity on and off the golf course and strive to help others around me understand it too. Golf is a huge part of my life, and playing in college has been my goal since my first tournament. I have learned countless life lessons on the course and made several friends. The golf course isn't just where I learned the game of golf, but also the game of life.
