The first time I ever picked up a golf club I was 6. My dad took me to play a fun round and I was more there for the snacks and riding in the cart than actually playing. But then, in 6th grade I started golfing competitively. I have been an athlete my whole life, but when I started playing in matches, golf suddenly took over.
My love for the sport and desire to get better has translated into a Varsity position my entire high school career. My freshman and sophomore seasons I played for Columbus School for Girls. Freshman year I was the teams most improved player as we were conference champions, coming 2nd in the regional finals to head to states. Sophomore year, I stepped up to the 3-4 spot in the roster, earning an all league honorable mention as our team just missed states again.
Those two years I learned how to overcome setbacks (both in my personal game as well as with the team) and how to control my nerves and truly just play the game.
Junior year, my family and I made the hard decision to transfer to Bishop Watterson High School and it has been one of the best moves of my life. Although it put me out of my comfort zone and was unexpected, I have grown and learned so much from the experience. In my junior season, I was forced to sit half the season which meant none of my scores could count and I couldn’t compete with my team. However, in the time I could play, I hovered between our 1-2 position and consistently lowered my scores.
I would love the opportunity to play collegiate golf and further my love for the sport.
