My name is Isabelle Mercy Garcia, a 16-year-old junior at Alvin High School. I am proud to take AP and dual credit classes, maintaining a 4.7 GPA. As a dedicated varsity golf player, I have been pursuing my passion for golf since I was 7 years old, and I am determined to earn a scholarship to continue playing in college. In addition to golf, I actively participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including AVID and ROTC. I have also engaged in meaningful work, contributing to my church and the local community. I am excited about my future and the opportunities your school has to offer.
I am interested in attending your college and I look forward to attending your school. I plan to major in Engineering. Another thing I look forward to is playing for a golf team and having the opportunity to meet and interact with new teammates and coaches. I may have had a rough story when I was younger, but I plan to leave it behind and show my family and community what I can do. I look forward to seeing myself on TV and also helping family members that helped me most.
When I was 2 years old, I struggled with a mother who never really had a place in her heart for me, along with two other siblings. Therefore she felt the need to give me to an amazing couple that had recently been married and were looking to have a family. This couple adopted me and is what I have known as my mother and father since I was 2 years old and changed my life for the better ever since. Today I still hear stories of how hard it was to build me to how I am now, I had struggled with speech and malnutrition. My mom now would tell me how hard it would be to find clothes due to how small I was for a 2-year-old, and even how much they spent on books to help me talk. They taught me to speak, read, and interact with people. When I was 7 years old my dad taught me physical activities and introduced me to golf and fishing. To this day I am still doing them, not only for fun, but for my college life and on.
I love contributing to my community especially when it comes to helping my church. Ever since I was little my mom would take me to her church meetings for a group of women willing to help their environment they were also known as CDA (Catholic Daughters of America), I would always ask my mom if I could join so I can also help, but she said not till I was 18 years old. Throughout the years I went to the meetings with her. I would bud in every second I got to help them, after some time they realized how much I loved to help even to the point they would tell my mom to bring me to important events. In 2023, our church was able to establish a junior ladies group, while our first meeting was in the process they asked me why I wanted this so badly and I told them that I wanted to be the inspiration for young girls just like me willing to give to our community. Before high school, I had an amazing amount of volunteer hours, estimated to be about 60+ hours. My main goal was to help younger children by donating my clothes and my books. Doing this helped me get noticed not only in my church but also in my community. In my junior year, I was invited to join AVID, they mainly help with community service and prepare for college plans. I continue to gain more hours, especially now that I am also looking into colleges. ROTC helped me with my hour, allowing me to interact with more citizens in my city. Every first Wednesday of each month we set up a food drive for many families that need food, every time I would take food to someone's car they would give me a good tip for my future life. ROTC has helped me with discipline, etiquette, and engaging with others. Throughout my years in ROTC, I have learned to do what is right and put students in their place, many of the times our majors would turn to me whenever he had to leave to attend to an issue. We would attend competitions to do drills, physical training, and rifle shootings. I have always enjoyed attending competitions because it allows me to give me the chance to make new friends from other parts of Texas.
Many members of my family may have many definitions to describe me, but for me, I am just a girl who knows she has free will. Ever since I was little I have been known to be the light of the party. I have always enjoyed my time with my family, even when it came to family reunions, every time I see my family I always ask them how they met me and what their first thought was. My time with my younger cousins always brings joy because I get to tell them about my life and teach them what is right and wrong and how we should respect one another. I love it when family members ask how I am doing in school and sometimes they also get me advice for when I get older, a lot of things I enjoy doing with my family are traveling, sleepovers, and hangouts. There will never be a time someone will ever catch me saying I dislike my family because God blessed me and gave me another chance to have a cherishing family.
