Personal Statement
After years of being in dance around 12 years old with the advice of some of our family friends, they talked to me about playing golf. Very little did I know that golf is a humbling sport. Over the years, with my dad at the bag, the countless hours of coaching and training has led me to have a passion for the game. I have learned that it is a sport in which you will lose far greater than one will win, and that can be difficult for pill for young people like me to swallow. At the same time, it has taught me humility and life lessons. Lessons on time management, perseverance, not giving up, spending more time practicing putting and chipping, saving yourself around the greens and sometimes taking that bogey as a save and walking off the hole. What I have noticed about golf is that the smallest details are what makes the greatest game. That could be sinking that 30ft, saving the hole, and moving on. My motto is that anything can happen on the course, good or bad, but it’s what you do with that anything that makes you a golfer.
If there is anything I've learned about being on a golf team, it's the idea that it's more than just a game. It’s a family. Celebrating our wins and mourning our losses, we do it together. Golf has been and will always be more than just a game to me because behind every player, there is a team, and that team is a family. What I have noticed about golf is that the smallest details are what makes the greatest game.
I am looking for a program that is a great fit for my passion of golf, team sportsmanship, mentoring life and golf lessons, and being part of a team that will yield lifetime relationships. My parents have been my best mentors in molding who I am and then giving me distance and support over the last few years as I develop as a person and a young golfer. My passion is to join a program that will support my golf development and provide me with a great business degree. I look forward in making those lifelong relationships with coaches, teammates and students, similar to how I have in High School.
As a Freshmen I was fortunate to make the Varsity 1 team and got to compete at a very high level in North Texas and against some great HS programs. I am a member of the AJGA, TJGT, and NTPGA. My scores are in the mid to upper 70s, and look to bring them to the low mid 70s by end of spring Junior year. I am usually on the course playing or practicing 4-5 days as week and when not practicing playing in 2-3 tournaments a month. I have been blessed with a great swing coach in Troy Denton, Putting Coach with Mathew Wheat and Short game coach with Coach Jacob. I look forward in continuing my passion for golf at the next level and look forward in talking to coaches over the next year.
