To All Coaches,
(May 2020 Trackman Report upon request)
My Story - "Potential Diamond in the Rough" - Class of 2021
My name is Chandler Browning and my story is a little different than most. I am currently a Junior at Prosper High School in Prosper, Texas. I have a 3.967 GPA / 4.0 scale, and at the moment, I am currently in the top 6.6% of my 2021 graduating class of nine hundred and eighty-eight students. I am a three year varsity golfer and basketball player, so I love to compete. I have played basketball since I was four years old, but when my dad introduced me to competitive golf my freshman year, I immediately knew what I wanted to pursue in college. I know what you may be thinking, and while I have only been playing competitive golf for three years, I practice diligently every day, and have worked hard to improve at a rapid pace, shooting a 77 within my first year of competitive tournament golf. My dad was an All-Conference golfer at The University of North Texas, and he has really helped prepare me mentally to play at the college level. I think by being fairly new to competitive golf, I will not burn out like some of the top recruits who have been playing their whole lives because having the opportunity to flush a seven iron three feet from the flag will never get old to me!
I am a competitor and highly value being part of a team. During my freshman year of high school, I was told that playing both sports at the varsity level while trying to excel academically would likely be overwhelming. However, I did excel academically and in both sports at the highest level of 6-A. I worked very hard so others who come behind me will have the opportunity to be multi-sport athletes as well. In fact, Prosper High School now promotes dual-sport athletes. Basketball has kept me in amazing shape, which I believe has propelled me to pick up golf very quickly mentally as well as physically. Even though I want to pursue golf full-time in high school, I am committed to remaining loyal to my basketball coaches who gave me the opportunity to play on varsity as a Freshman.
Currently, I am a member at Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas. I practice almost every day at their beautiful practice facility. My swing coach is Greg Morrison, a UNT golf alum, who is the PGA Director of Golf / General Manager at Hurricane Creek. Also, I have taken lessons from Becca Bailey who played at Oklahoma State University. Becca is an LPGA T&CP Class B instructor and also runs the Hank Haney Youth Golf Program, which I help work in the summers.
Finally, at school I get to compete with two D1 commits (Kansas and Bowling Green State University) everyday during practice. This makes me fearless when playing against tough competitors because it has shown me that I can compete and even beat highly ranked recruits. If you give me the opportunity to play for your team, I can guarantee that nobody will outwork me. I know that my best golf is in front of me, and when I am done with my college career, I will have given every ounce of energy possible to be the best I can be.
If you click on my link, I think you will see in the videos I have made tremendous progress over the last 3 years, and I know it's just the beginning.
