I started golf in eighth grade thinking it would be a good off-season sport for soccer. However, I grew to love it so much that it's now my number one sport. Within only the past year, I have dedicated all of my free time to it. I am a self-motivated golfer that has a driven, but open-minded and coachable attitude. Freshman year, I switched to a school that had the International Baccalaureate program since I wanted the challenge. I was going to play as the number 3 spot in a varsity invitational for their golf team, but COVID-19 shut everything down. Sophomore year, I transferred back to my original school because the IB program was not challenging enough and I wanted to do Running Start, a dual enrollment program. We had a shortened golf season, but I made it to districts and saw how amazing golf can really be when competing. I started putting more work into my golf game last fall to prepare for my junior season and it paid off. Over the course of that season, I improved my average for 9 holes by over ten strokes! I also made it to districts, both days of state, and racked up a few awards.
