Personal Statement

First of all, I wanted to tell you a little more about myself, so that you can get to know me better and understand where I come from. My name is Andrea and I live in Madrid (Spain). I have many hobbies and activities that I like to do; gymnastics, of course, is one of them

I have been competing since I was about 5 years old. My dream has always been to compete in the NCAA and enjoy the experience of going to a university in the USA.

I am a high performance athlete in artistic gymnastics, I love the acrobatic facet and artistic expression, the floor is the apparatus where I feel best although it is the bar where I get the best results, I have competed nationally and internationally, with my team (Xelska ) and individual having good results.

As a gymnast I could say that I am strong, perfectionist and expressive. I perform well when I feel part of a team. That's my key. I always try to improve my technique and tactics, with the help of my coaches. I want to improve individually and although I need incentives to be more ambitious, I grow as a team athlete. In recent years I have noticed a change in myself and in my way of seeing gymnastics. Even that technique is very important, gymnastics is a mental game; so while I train and compete, I work my mind.

I am looking for a school that can help me financially while allowing me to have the opportunity to get a great education and fulfill my dream of competing college level gymnastics.

I dedicate (invest perhaps, would be the word) most of my time to training, which has the consequence that the rest of the time I have to study mostly. I train 38 hours a week, which leaves me almost no time to do other things. I love reading, listening to music, watching movies, taking pictures, skiing, dancing, playing with my dogs and I go on Sundays to take care of animals at the Animal Foundation. I would also like to travel a lot, I have already been to some countries and I would like to visit many more, meet different people and cultures.
