Personal Statement

I am striving to continue my academic and athletic career by being part of an acrobatics and tumbling team while working toward an undergraduate degree in pre-veterinary or biology, and eventually a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) as a graduate degree. I set my standards/goals for myself in both academics and athletics very high and put as much effort into reaching them as possible. I started competitive gymnastics in first grade, and my love for this sport helped me get to where I am now. My coach has described me as hard-working, truthful, and very kind. I always try to be there for my teammates; whether that means cheering for them during their routines or helping them push through a hard day.

2023-2024 Meet Season: This season didn't start as soon as expected due to my knee (bruised cartilage in the Summer) that lead me to have to miss a meet as well as take a little bit to gain back skills. My scores may not be as high as I wish but I'm glad I was able to compete at least and I've gained more confidence in myself.

Started with a fall on bars and let it get into my head on beam and the rest of the meet. Worked hard at the practices after that though!

I had a lot of fun and the coaches were so nice! I flipped my tsuks on vault and the coaches said I had a really fast block! On bars I got my clear hips a little higher and worked on my cast handstands. The coaches on beam liked my series/dismount (I combine them) and on floor I worked on my front layouts and back fulls. I ended up working front fulls into the pit too! On the tramp I did double fronts (just in tuck) into the pit and worked good setting/shaping for my front and back layouts.

Mostly based but also did top. Lots of climbs, inversions, and some cradles as a top. As a base went up to extension, pushed to cradle, based climbs, and inversion/dangle drills. Tumbled with round off back handsprings, round off back tucks, and round off back layouts. Great camp!!! First time trying everything but tumbling.
