My name is Avery Ross (2026) and I am a sophomore attending Kents Hill School. I started skating when I was four years old and have spent six seasons playing co-ed travel hockey, most recently with 14U T2 Maine Moose team along with my high school girl’s season. Playing in college has been a dream of mine since my first season of playing competitively and I’ve been working toward that goal ever since. I am a good candidate for a team because I work very hard and study the game. I am able to read plays and do whatever the team needs to be most successful. I am persistent and resilient in working on and off the ice to improve my game. As a three-sport athlete, I carefully balance time with friends and family with my commitment to get better at the sports I love. Although I am not the leading goal scorer on my team, I always find ways to contribute in other aspects of the game, whether it be bringing the puck up the ice or breaking up rushes. I have always viewed myself as a defensive defensemen up until this year, when I was put on the power play unit and have added another aspect to my offensive game. I am calm under pressure, and I am a quiet and encouraging teammate. Alongside hockey, I take academics very seriously and have ambitious career aspirations in the medical field. I am always challenging myself to take honors and AP classes while balancing my sports and extra curricular activities. I hope to find a college that best meets my academic and hockey dreams as a student athlete.
