My first ambition is to be a registered nurse like my mother. I‘ve grown up visiting my mom in the hospital. I’ve already volunteered over 24 hours at Beth Israel Lahey Health at Beverly Hospital and plan to volunteer again this summer. I want to practice in pediatrics because I love children and feel I would have a high level of job satisfaction. I have also volunteered with the NorthShore Stars wack-a-puck, Boston Bruins Learn to Skate and Peabody hockey skills sessions through my high school hockey team.
Playing hockey is another joy of mine. I joined hockey during 4th grade. I had spent hours in the hockey rink watching my little brother play. One day I asked to change my figure skates for hockey skates. I initially played as a left wing but would occasionally fill in as a left defenseman. I prefer defense and put most of my energy into that position. However, I feel that my background makes me a versatile player.
I am in an IEP/504 at school. I was found to need scholastic help in 3rd grade. I have studied hard, been an advocate for myself in and outside the classroom. My freshman year in high school, I advocated to move out of the lower level para-assisted classroom and I made honors. I have worked so hard that I am hopeful my English teacher will recommend me for honors English next year.
In conclusion, I hope to attend college and study to be a nurse while playing hockey for my college.
