I am a senior at Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) School who excels in math, science and the humanities. I also sing in the concert choir and participate in other school activities. In college I want to grow as a student and an athlete. I am confident in my abilities and I will work hard to improve my skills in the classroom and on the ice.
At NMH I have been a starting defensive player on the varsity ice hockey team. I was the only freshman to make the varsity team in 2013-14 and I helped the team compete successfully in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference. We competed successfully in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference: our 2013-14 record was 10-14-3, our 2014-15 season record was 11-13-4, our 2015-16 season record was 9-15-3, and our 2016-17 season record was 15-9-3.
In the spring of 2016 my club team, the Vermont Shamrocks, won the U-19 Tier II National Championships. During the tournament, I scored one goal and had three assists, including an assist that led to the winning goal in overtime of the championship game!
On the ice my strengths as a defensive player are aggressive skating, positioning, and creating scoring opportunities for other players on my team. This summer I have worked very hard to become stronger so that I can become more explosive as a skater and win battles on the ice as a college-level player. I have become stronger and faster and my puck-handling skills and decisions on the ice have become more consistent. Playing with future Division 1, II and III players for the past four years I am very confident that my commitment and skills and teamwork will contribute to the college ice hockey team I join.
