When I was just 4 years old, I was hooked on ice hockey after seeing my older brother play - and I immediately fell in love with the sport! Everyday I pestered my parents to let me take skating lessons, determined to make it happen. When the class started on that first day, all of the other kids were wearing figure skates - except little ole' me! I came in my hockey helmet and hockey skates, my instructor pointed out my parents must have made a mistake with my equipment choice - but little did she know that this was all part of plan! I had greater dreams beyond ice-skating; I wanted to be a hockey player!
As a 10 year old, I finally joined the elite Honey Baked team and it seemed like all my dreams had come true! We steamrolled though our entire season without dropping a single game. Unfortunately, the state playoffs were not so kind to us- we lost every single game! Although losing was a humbling experience, it was those losses that taught me an important lesson which have stayed with me ever since: teamwork is key in any sport, you can always learn something and give it your all no matter what even if you win or lose.
I usually play as a right defenseman but do occasionally play also as a forward. I practice three days a week on the ice with my team. On top of that, two days are devoted towards working one-on-one with an instructor to help my skills even further. I go to Brightmont Academy and I strive to do well in school. My hard work has paid off as I've been on the deans list though out middle school! To balance it all out, during my spare time I play guitar (7 years), piano (5 years) & drums (2 years). Lastly when winter rolls around you can always find me snowboarding when time allows it! My college dream is to study engineering and ultimately become a pilot. I'm looking for a college where I can grow academically while continuing my passion on the ice rink.
