Personal Statement
I have played ice hockey since I first learned how to skate at the local ice arena in 2003. While I have always considered myself multi-sport oriented, my primary focus has been to play Ice Hockey at the college level. My coaches consider me to be an offensive defenseman. While I play both positions competently, I feel the defensive position is where I excel and am able to help my team the most. I pride myself upon leadership, persistence, and faith. As a leader, both on and off the ice, I strive to lead by example through achieving high academic marks in school at the same time being the most effective athlete I can be on the ice. I strive to push myself as well as my team mates to play better through maintaining focus at practice and during games. While I believe no player ever plays a perfect game, I have learned that learning from your mistakes can help you play the best you can. I am always open to criticisms, both coaching and scholastic to help me work on my areas of weakness. I am very grateful of all the support that my family, friends, and coaches have given me, and consider it my responsibility to not let their support be in vain.
It has been my dream to have the opportunity to play hockey at the college level, and I have faith that if I work hard enough, I can succeed in living that dream. I envision my goals for my college years to focus on personal growth. My goal is to explore a major that will allow me to continue a career in the physical therapy field. On the ice, I plan to be a strong dynamic player and positive influence for the team. As I grow physically and mentally throughout my college hockey career, I will strive to be an asset to my line, whether it is a rotation, penalty kill, or power play. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect both on and off the ice, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects on myself, my team, my coach and my school.
