Ava Corrington '28 Recruiting Profile

     Hello, My name is Ava and i am currently playing for the Bemidji High School Varsity team while going into my freshman year. I am a three sport athlete and strive to excel in all of my sports which include hockey, softball and barrel racing.  In softball, I was placed as lead-off hitter and had the highest On Base Percentage, led my team in stolen bases, and led in runs scored. This year, my team won our 14U State championsip (Arrowhead Region, Minnesota). 

     I grew up mostly around horses and got into barrel racing, Winning my 14-18 Youth riding division as a 12-13 year old in the summer season of 2023. In my effort to excel at all of my sports, I work with a personal trainer and go to my high school hockey practices, both 3 days a week, and try to make an effort to go to as many open hockey sessions as I can.

      Hockey has always been a big part of my life growing as I had two older bothers playing hockey. 

     A couple strengths I carry on and off the ice are leadership, drive, and having a good work ethic. I am always there to guide a teamate or help them out in any instance whether its creating a play tactic on ice or lifting them up if they need a confidence boost. I have a lot of drive and always want to be the best one on the ice or on the field in softball. I am always wanting to work harder and strive for more speed, puck handling abilities and on-ice awarness. 

      A goal of mine is,after i graduate High School, is to play for a Division 1 school and work my way up to play for the Professional Womens Hockey League (PWHL). I am very good at adapting to the speed of a game and reading the ice well. While as busy as I am, I make it a goal to still worship Christ. God plays a very important role in my life. Philipans 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" . 

     I am a center who is playing for the Blue Ox 14U Tier 1 Fall League at the moment and with the speed of the game I know not to hang on to the puck for to long. My play-making ability is very good. I am not afraid to share the glory and get an assist because I believe an assist is just as good as a goal. I am a very clean player on the ice but i am not afraid to go into the corners. I will back-check and will throw my body in the way of shots in any game.
