Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Kayla Simonson, I live in Delano, Minnesota. I have been playing hockey for 13 years. I started playing goalie in 8U and did not want to stop. I have been playing goalie now for 10 years. When I put on my pads and helmet, I feel a part of something, a part of the Minnesota hockey family. It doesn't matter if it's practice, a game, a scrimmage, or even some good old pond hockey. When I step on that ice, all of my problems drift away and I feel like I am on top of the world. Being able to have this feeling is a gift, not everyone feels this way about something they love.
When I am not playing hockey, I like to hang out with my family, jump on our trampoline, and play video games. In the summer, I play softball and go up to my cabin. I spend a lot of time with my family up at the cabin, and we love to go on pontoon rides, even if it’s cold outside. During the school year, I aim for all the highest grades possible and work very hard. It's always been a dream of mine to play competitive college hockey. I know that getting into these schools is not easy, but I am willing to put in the hard work.
