Personal Statement
My interest in hockey started at the age of three when I watched my big brother and cousin on the ice. I knew I had to be out there with them. After “graduating” from IP, I joined a boys Mite team where I Iearned to hold my own and keep up with the competition. My love for sports did not stop with hockey as I enjoyed playing baseball for several years as well. I continued to play boys hockey until I turned 11 where I reluctantly joined a U12 girls team. I found a love for girls hockey that year and felt that I learned so much about team spirit, hard work and how to have fun.
Growing up my character has been shaped by my faith, my family and my experiences. I take pride in my strong ethical beliefs and in being honest and respectful to all people. I am grateful for all of the experiences I have been offered and for the strong and dedicated coaches that have mentored me along the way. Through the years, hockey has taught me how to work hard for what I believe in, how to face challenges by never giving up, how to work with and trust my team and how to lead by example.
In hockey, academics and my life, I set goals and hold myself to high standards.
