Growing up as the middle child, I was the least expected to make hockey my “thing”, but I believe that split-second decision while watching my brother learn to play was the best I’ve ever made. Watching the NHL gave me a lot of insight on how to develop as a player and a person, and playing became the source of my happiness and the best way for me to approach stress. On a few occasions I’ve been recognized as a trustworthy friend that is able to help solve problems with school, social life, and a well-known emotional support source for many friends. Over the years, I’ve figured out the most valuable teammate, even if they don’t see the ice much, has the best attitude towards self and others. Knowing that, I try to move into new things with a completely open mind.
Through college, I’d like to become more confident in myself and the people around me, which I currently struggle with the most. Academically, I want to do and be better than I ever have been. Visual and studio arts have been another output for me, when there isn’t any ice open, and senior year I am fortunate enough to take AP Art to open even more doors to the future. I strive to become a better leader of friends and teammates through college and beyond.
