I started as a figure skater when I was five years old thinking that figure skating was for girls and ice hockey for boys. When I was in Third Grade, I made the switch to ice hockey to play intramural hockey for my elementary school, which was one of the best decisions I ever made. From the moment I put on my equipment and stepped out onto the ice, I immediately knew that this sport was for me.
I am dedicated to my studies at school and continue to work my absolute hardest to keep up my grades. I love participating in clubs and other activities offered at Sacred Heart Academy. I have been in numerous honors classes and this year I will be taking two AP classes. Since Sacred Heart Academy does not have an ice hockey team, I decided in Ninth Grade to try something new: field hockey. Why field hockey? Because it was another sport with the word “hockey” in it! I played on the JV team my freshman year and on the Varsity team ever since. I was the MVP in the 2022 season and will be the captain of the varsity team next year.
My other passion besides playing ice hockey and field hockey is music. I play three instruments: the piano, the B flat clarinet, and the E flat clarinet. I am a member of the pit band at school, as well as a member in the band club. I take private lessons outside of school and participate in NYSSMA and All County Music Festivals. The last NYSSMA festival that I participated in May 2022 for clarinet was at the highest level - Level 6.
One of the many things that I enjoy doing is volunteering in my free time. I am a volunteer for the New York Metro Blind Hockey program and I transitioned from participant to coach’s assistant at Matt Martin Hockey Academy to coach younger players.
In college, I want to thrive both in academics and sports, meet new people, and prepare for my future.
I was born two months premature at 32 weeks. The doctors told my parents “Girls are strong, she will be fine.” I was determined to be strong from the moment I was born and continue to be strong today.
