I knew rowing was my sport when I was in my novice year. My coach at the time was very inspirational, and by no means went easy on us. Each and every single person on my team was pushed by our coach, and by each other, to bring out the most resilient and hardworking sides of ourselves. Throughout that year, I discovered how much I like being pushed hard, and how I was able to discover so much more of myself through rowing. Every time I row, I feel as if I learn more and more.
I try to put as much effort into school as I do into rowing. I love science, but also music and art. Since freshman year, I knew that biology fascinated me and that if I were able to devote myself to it, I would want to major in it in college. Additionally, I have played alto saxophone in school concert band since the 5th grade, and plan to continue. I think having a balance in both science and art has really helped me avoid a large portion of the stress that comes with school.
