Hi, I’m Hazel Jennings, a current freshman coxswain and lightweight rower who's been rowing since Winter season of 2022. Over these past two years, I’ve developed a real love for the sport and a commitment to always giving my best. Right now, I’m proud to be a varsity coxswain and rower with Charter School of Wilmington's club and to have had the opportunity to be involved in amazing races like Head of the Schuykill (3rd Place coxing U16 Women's Quad) and the Mid-Atlantic Championships (4th place as stroke in U15 Women's Double) Spring season of 2024.
My goal is to continue coxing and/or rowing at the collegiate level while earning a degree in either civil engineering or social psychology (I haven't decided yet, all the options for majors are so interesting!). I’m looking for a program where I can make an impact not just on the water, but also off in the team environment and the classroom. I’m driven, coachable, and I take pride in my work ethic—qualities that I think set me apart.
What makes me different from other recruits is my balance of academics and athletics. I’ve always believed in putting in as much effort in the classroom as I do in my sport, and I’m proud of my current academic achievements such as my 4.28 GPA and my participation in multiple honors classes and AP Human Geography last year. I’m also a strong teammate and leader, and I value the relationships I build with those around me as well as the environment I am about to create for rowers in the boat as a coxswain.
I’m excited to connect with coaches who are looking for someone who’s passionate, hardworking, and ready to contribute to their team and school both athletically and academically. Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile! Feel free to reach out—I’d love to chat about how I can be a good fit for your program.
