In January 2022, I started rowing on my school’s crew team. I switched to rowing after being a competitive figure skater for 8 years. I quickly found that I love rowing and the amazing teamwork that is such an important aspect of the sport. In my first season of rowing, I was stroke seat of our Junior/2V 4+ at states and regionals, and my incredible experience that season left me so excited for my future in rowing. Throughout my junior year, I have consistently been in stern 4 of our 1V 8+, as well as stroke seat of our Varsity 4+ and Varsity 2x. After rowing for over a year now and working hard to develop as an athlete, I would love to continue rowing in college at a higher level of competition.
After my first season of rowing, I received the Reid Davis award at our 2022 end-of-year banquet, awarded to the rower that shows the most potential/promise. At our 2023 end-of-year banquet, I received the Golden Hammer Award for the fastest 2k time on the girls' team, as well as the Most Valuable Oarswoman Award. At my school's Awards Day ceremony, I received the Van Etten Bent Award, given to the students who distinguish themselves in a particular varsity sport. I was accepted to and attended the USRowing Women’s Olympic Development Program for summer 2022. I was accepted to Penn AC Junior Gold for summer 2023 and I had an incredible experience training and racing with this program at IDR and Summer Nationals in the 1V 8+ and 4x. Additionally, I have been nominated by my teammates to be co-captain for the 2023-2024 school year.
