Hi!! My name is Hailey Romain. I’ve been rowing with OARS for 2 years now and i’ve enjoyed rowing so much I would love to continue rowing throughout college. In august of 2022 I was in a bad car accident and suffer a traumatic brain injury and ended up having to take a long break from rowing. I spent countless days in the hospital and in doctors offices to find some relief but come to find out what I really needed was to get back to my family of rowers (and to be medicated). Although I still have bad headaches from time to time the experience has allowed me to grow and become a more understanding person. Some people could see it as a weakness but I see it as strength. I would say one thing that differs me from other recruits is although I have that competitive energy of an athlete I also am able to show compassion for others because of my experiences and I know how it feels to be going through something and feeling alone so having your teammates support you unconditionally is very helpful mentally.
