Hi! My name is Josie Chapuis, I am a varsity rower for the Academy of the Holy Names Rowing Club in Tampa Florida, and I am an aspiring collegiate student-athlete.
At the beginning of my sophomore year, I decided to attend a learn-to-row camp - and I was hooked. I immediately fell in love with the rigorous training schedule, competitive races, and support from my team that came with rowing.
I am an incredibly dedicated person, continuing to push myself athletically and academically, consistently setting personal goals and working hard to achieve them. I won't back down from a daunting task because it will take hard work and commitment to reach. I’m always working on improving, inside and outside of 3:30-6:30 or 7:00-10:30 practices.
I am a contributing member of a variety of extracurricular groups ranging from service activities to mental health awareness, creative writing publications, honor societies, and religious youth education. I have taught myself the importance of organization, time management, and healthy study habits in order to balance the jam-packed and fast-paced life of a student-athlete. I maintain strong academic records and have raised my cumulative GPA each semester of my high school career. I enjoy the rigor of honors and advanced placement classes, and I’ll always accept a challenge, on or off the water. I plan to major in political science and follow a pre-law academic track to later pursue a career in law.
What I’m looking for in a college team is a group that will encourage me to be my best possible self and teammates who will challenge me at every practice. I love to win, and I’m a really competitive person. But overall, I want a team who, win or lose, will give it their all in every piece and work as a team.
Thank you for considering me for your rowing program! If you have any questions or would like to know a little bit more about me as a prospective student-athlete, feel free to contact me!
