Dagny Sammis '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Dagny, I started rowing my sophomore year of high school. My first regatta as a Novice, I stroked the 1st Freshman 8 for my team, and we placed 1st. It was rewarding and motivating to have not only raced our hardest, but also to be recognized for it, especially since it was my first race and glimpse into the competitive aspect of rowing. 

Over summer (2022) I went to the US Rowing ODP camp, and it was there that I decided I wanted to continue my rowing career into college. Having the opportunity to row with girls from all over the country and getting exposure to what college training consists of, was an amazing experience. Rowing provides me an outlet to continuously improve and grow as a person mentally and physically.

 I have competed in many regattas including, Head Of The South 2021, FSRA 2022 and 2023 Sweep and Sculling championships, as well as 2022 and 2023 SRAA National Championships, all with my high school team, Plant High Rowing.

 I'm in all honors classes and have taken 7 AP level courses so far. I'm planning to major in the STEM field, with interest in Psychology and Biology primarily.
