Hi, my name is Izie and I am a student and competitive rower for Cambridge High School in Cambridge New Zealand, graduating in December of 2023.
I have been brought up in Cambridge with my parents and two siblings Lukas and Ruby, and I am currently a year 12 student at Cambridge High School. I enjoy rowing, going to the gym, spending time with my family and friends, skiing, and art
I became interested in rowing after four years of competitive swimming for a local club in Cambridge, with my first rowing season (Novice) beginning in late 2019. Coming from a primarily individual sport, I have loved being part of a team environment and being able to surround myself amongst others who are dedicated, supportive, encouraging, motivated, and are now some of my closest friends. This year beginning in October will be my fourth and final season rowing for Cambridge High School.
Some notable achievements over my four years with Cambridge High School Rowing include:
(2021) Placing first in the A final of both the GU15 4x+ and 2x at North Island Secondary Schools, Placing second in the A final of both the GU15 4x+ and GU15 2x at Aon Maadi Cup, Being named most successful junior crew of 2021 (GU15 2x).
(2022) Placing second in the GU16 2x time trial at North Island Secondary Schools, Placing first in the GU16 2x at Aon Maadi Cup in Twizel New Zealand, Being named most successful senior crew, receiving a Cambridge High School sports tie to acknowledge placing first at a national event.
(2023) Placing first in the A final for both the Girls coxed club 8+ and coxed 4x+ at North Island Club Champs, Placing first in the A final for both the GU17 4x+ and GU17 2x at North Island Secondary Schools, Placing first in the A final for both the GU17 4x+ and GU17 2x at the Aon Maadi Cup. Named in the NZ North Island Under 18 Team for 2023.
I'd love the opportunity to learn more about life as a student athlete at overseas universities!
