Hello! My name is Chloe McAuliffe, and I just finished my junior year at the Groton School, a boarding school in Groton, MA. I am 17 years old (I turned 17 on June 21st).
I began my rowing career in March 2024 on the varsity team at Groton and have been rowing ever since. Groton has a long tradition of distinction in rowing, with fantastic coaches and a team culture.
In my first spring rowing season, I rowed in the stroke seat on my boat. I immediately caught the rowing bug, drawn to the enormous discipline, consistency, athleticism, and teamwork required to achieve excellence. Our team had a very successful season and followed with an exciting post-season summer opportunity to row in the UK, racing at several regional regattas, as well as the Henley Women's Regatta, and last fall at the Head Of the Charles Regatta.
Before discovering rowing, I was a multiple-sport athlete at Groton and middle school, with a particularly long history in competitive squash. I am the Captain-elect of the Varsity Squash team at Groton. I have earned all-ISL and All-New England honors on our team every year. We finished #2 in Division II of the National High School Championships in both March 2025 and March 2024. We also won the All-New England NEPSAC Championship in March 2025. Beyond rowing and squash, I played on the Groton Junior Varsity Field Hockey and Tennis teams.
Academically, I have broad interests in the Classics and Sciences and have taken a rigorous schedule of AP and Honors classes, including AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP World History, AP Computer Science, AP English, and Latin 4. Groton was recently named the #1 High School in the United States by Niche, which has provided me with the most rigorous environment to develop as a student.
I pride myself on being a well-rounded and dynamic person. I am an active musician and part of both the Chapel Evensong Choir and Groton’s a cappella singing group, The Maqabellas. I also hold several leadership positions, including Third Form Dorm Prefect, Chapel Prefect, Acolyte Prefect, and Global Education Opportunities Board Member. I am a Senior Peer Tutor for our school community and also involved in multiple clubs and groups on campus.
In college, I am focused on continuing to develop as a competitive rower in a stimulating academic environment. I have loved the camaraderie of rowing, its profoundly team-oriented nature, the hard work, and the enormous reward that comes with it.
