I’m Brooke Shellenbarger, a 5’8“ 135lbs sweep and skulling rower in my junior year at Lowell Senior High School in Lowell, MI.
I am very passionate about rowing, I rowed for two seasons on my high school team, and I wanted to excel at my rowing skills so I switched teams and I will now be going into my fourth season with Grand Rapids Rowing Club this fall. I being competitive and I want to continue to push myself and compete in college.
In addition to rowing, I am a good academic student with a 4.0 GPA and I am taking numerous AP classes this year as well as next year to give myself a head start for college. I also enjoy participating in extracurricular activities. Throughout high school I have been involved in Student Council, Interact Club (junior Rotary club), National Honors Society, marching band, symphonic band, and Lowell Womens Club (not affiliated with school). I have done multiple group performances at solo ensemble for band every year and have gotten division 1 (highest division) for districts and states every year.
Staying active is important to me. In me free time I like to downhill ski, rollerblade, kayak, volunteer, and read. I have been fortunate enough to travel both with my family and through my school to some states and several different countries in Europe such as Denmark, Austria, Iceland, Germany, and Switzerland. I’m currently not sure what I want to major in, but I am exploring and learning about different careers to try and find out what I want to do in life.
