Personal Statement

After rowing for a year my commitment to rowing has grown stronger. There is nothing better than the feeling of a boat coming together and moving well. I enjoy the friendships I developed and how we push each other to be the best that we can be as we compete for seats and together at regattas. We are a sculling team and although I feel I’m my strongest, and most confident, in a 4x, I am focusing on my 1x and 2x racing. I want to perfect my technique, bowing, and stroking skills. I also want to get my erg time down to 7:35 by the end of the winter season. Prior to rowing, I learned a lot about commitment, hard work, and accepting criticism during my 13 years of being a dancer. My devotion and determination brought me to the World Dance Championship for 3 years! My years of dance have taught me the value of focusing on technique which I now apply on the water and on the erg. Listening to critiques is important if I want to reach my goal and be the best I can be for myself and the team. My dance instructor, basketball, tennis, and rowing coaches have complimented me on my “coachability”. I was MVP on my JV tennis team and was the most versatile dancer at the dance studio. To grow personally and as a rower, I hope to connect with a team that shares the same compassion and commitment that I do. I hope you consider me for your team!
