Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Garbien and I row for Port Rowing. Ever since my first day of crew in eighth grade, I knew that I finally found the sport for me. I have played multiple sports throughout my life, and I never felt the connection to those sports as I do to crew. Rowing has taught me numerous life lessons. I have learned how to be a good teammate while also striving for personal excellence. I have learned to demonstrate discipline and determination on the water and on the erg, as well as in the classroom. Being one of the few rowers in my grade on my team has helped me strive to stand out by consistently working hard in both the academic and athletic environments. I have always been a diligent and passionate student, which has only aided me in embracing the attitude and mindset that is essential to succeed in this sport of rowing.
I am eager and excited to continue working hard and improving my skill and speed with the help and advice of my coaches and teammates. One of my overall goals is to continue my rowing career in college, and I look forward to finding a school that is right for me, both in athletics and academics.
