Personal Statement

I am a rower on and off the water. On the water, technique is my edge, combined with power built through extra weight lifting and a ‘never complain’ positive attitude. Off the water, I want to be an engineer that rethinks the role of women in solving my generations biggest problems.

An 8+ wins when everyone brings unique skill to their seat allowing the boat to exceed the ability of an individual. For too long, success in technology required a team of all ‘powerhouses’. This turned off many people with untapped skill. AI, where I see future technology leading us, turns this mindset upside down. AI will do the heavy lifting allowing diverse but dedicated ‘boats’ to outperform.

I appreciate that my desire to combine D1 rowing with a demanding major is borderline insanity, but I thrive on challenges. Rowing taught me the skills to meet such a challenge.
