Hi, I'm Meli, and I'm in the Class of 2023 at Emma Willard School. I primarily cox for Emma Willard, but I have also spent a couple of seasons sculling at Albany Rowing Center. This summer I am coxing at Saratoga Rowing Association. In college, I plan to continue to pursue my passion for science by pursuing a pre-med track (with a major in biochemistry or biomedical engineering, depending on the school). I hope to continue my coxing career as well: I have fallen in love with the sport of rowing ever since my hands first touched a sweep oar in the fall of 2019. Throughout high school, I have found that crew practice is an amazing escape from the hard academic day, and I would love to continue this balance of sports and studying throughout college. I am readily available to dedicate time to both my classes and my team. I come from a very small high school team, and I am so excited about the opportunity of a larger, more experienced collegiate team. I have loved the sense of community, belonging, and of course, competitiveness, that I get from being on a rowing team, and I hope that I will not have to leave this behind in high school.
