Izabella Short '26 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Izabella Rose Short. I was first introduced to rowing fall of 2023, by my friend who thought I might be good at it. I started off my novice year by rowing four seat in the novice eight; but quickly changed to rowing stroke seat spring 2024 in a variety of boats. However, in the 2024 season I became a pretty consistent starboard rower in fours! I have absolutely loved being in fours and in general rowing. It truly has become a part of me in such a short amount of time, and I now cannot picture myself ever not rowing.

Academically, I started off high school with all honors classes and soon included AP classes my sophomore year. As a current junior, I maintain my mix of APs and honors classes! I have always especially enjoyed STEM classes as I love to be challenged! I am most definitely a problem solver, so Engineering is a subject and career path that screams to me!

On and off the water, I strive to be the best person I can be. Whether this be as a rower, teammate, student, daughter, or friend. I am incredibly devoted to this extraordinary sport, and cannot express how important it has become in my life. Committed does not begin to express what I am to rowing, as I always aim to improve. As for what I am looking for, I want to be a part of a team that finds value in every part of this sport. Whether that be wins or losses. In a school, I am looking for a place that holds immense values in academics and can support and aid in making my dreams reality. I am eager to see what my future holds; especially when it comes to my rowing career.
