EA - Siena Scungi...Hi Coach:
Thank you for visiting my NCSA profile. As we enter the winter season our rowing activity moves indoors to Ergs. I am planning to compete in one of the regional ”slide” tournaments this winter while swimming season is in full swing. I still enjoy the cross training that the two sports offer each other, especially at this point in my athletic journey. I am also still playing water polo, having been fortunate to be placed on one of the teams representing the North East in the Super Regional ODP Tournament in January.
During the 2025 Fall season I rowed for the Fairmount Rowing Association in a handful of regattas on the Schuylkill River, setting off from our boathouse on Philly’s Boathouse Row. It was all Quads this Fall as I rotated seats, sitting in Stroke, Three and Bow on separate occasions. Overall, Coach Konopka challenges me to row where ever needed, thus I am equally adept at sculling and sweep, and have competed in nearly every seat, yet mostly I have competed as 2nd stroke in the 8+ (Starboard), Stroke in 4x, Stroke in 2x and Bow in 8+, 4x and 2x (The bow seat is particularly challenging and I have a lot to learn to perfect the seat.)
Academically, I am looking to find a home where International Business or Finance and/or Economics plus International Relations can be combined. Spending my elementary school years at the French International School of Philadelphia and maintaining French fluency, I plan on using this talent by enhancing it in college and using it in my professional future. What you will get is a dedicated athlete, an empathetic leader and a driven scholar-athlete who wants to be part a team reaching to be its best.
Thank you for reading my Personal Statement. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Best regards,
Siena Scungio, Episcopal Academy 2027
