My top collegiate goals are to academically pursue my interest in the brain, to participate in the two loves of my life (music and athletics), and to enjoy my college experience.
I think that one thing that sets me apart from many other athletes is my age. Due to academically skipping a year and my birthday I have been competing against girls that are generally far older than I am. For example, I made the varsity track team as a sophomore and I was 14. During the track meets, I was regularly competing against girls that were 4 or even 5 years older than I was. I never let this fact get to me and I learned the importance of focusing on your own private goals, to not be discouraged, to always look at things in context but to also not make excuses. I feel that this has made me a stronger person in general and my desire to "make up" for my age differential makes me a better competitor.
