I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and I am currently a junior. I started rowing in 2021, seeking something new after playing soccer and tennis. In this search I found Utah Crew. Rowing is not a common sport in Utah (my team is one of 3 in Utah). Limited water and resources have not stopped our team as we push to grow and become the fastest that we can. I started in the winter and got a feel for the sport. In the spring I quickly joined the competition team. I was thrown into an intense environment and found myself thriving. I loved learning from older athletes whom I looked up to. I strive to become better not only for myself but for my team and boatmates. Rowing has, of course, strengthened my athletic abilities but has also taught me perseverance of my mind and in my personal life. I have also gained an appreciation for a strong team community and value that in my search for schools. I am interested in exploring rowing in college. I am an attentive student and would like to continue my education at a school that will challenge me academically as well as somewhere that will support me getting stronger as an athlete.
